Closing Up The Year With Honors

Season’s greeting to all Fernando Torres fan’s! Sorry I haven’t updated in awhile (been crazy busy) but who isn’t during these festive times?

So lets get back into the swing of things, with this year coming to a close awards have started to be passed out. One of those honors leading Torres to be selected to be part of the FIFA/FIFPro World XI in the FIFA World Player Gala 2009.

Over 50,000 professional football players from across the world selected and formed their ‘dream team’, were only the bets of the best are picked, and Torres was selected to be part of those special eleven players alongside; Iker Casillas (Real Madrid/Spain), Daniel Alves (Barcelona/Brazil), Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United/Serbia), John Terry (Chelsea/England) and Patrice Evra (Manchester United/France), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool/England), Xavi (Barcelona/Spain) and Andres Iniesta (Barcelona/Spain), Lionel Messi (Barcelona/Argentina) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Portugal).

FIFA Pusks Award is an award created to honor the most beautiful goal of the year – Torres goal against Blackburn this past April was selected as one of the top ten goals, but unfortunately lost out to Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal against Porto in the UEFA quarter-finals.

Recapping back through all Torres has been through this year, it can be said that this year truly has been a roller coaster one for Torres. From almost making it to the end of the Champions League this past spring, to not even getting past group stages this fall, injuries, an embarrassing defeat in the Confederation Cup, then becoming a papa in the summer – Torres has experienced good times and some definite bad times as well.

Hopefully in 2010 Torres life will stop being a shaky roller coaster and get back to being a smooth path to success! Here, here!
