After a hard fought season with Liverpool this past year, it’s time to put the club behind for just a moment and focus on achieving national glory with Spain this summer in South Africa.
As most of you may or may not know, beginning June 14th through the 28th the Confederations Cup tournament will take place in the World Cup hosting country of South Africa.
The current European Champions, who will be vying for the trophy along with Brazil, Italy, Egypt, Iraq, New Zealand, USA and hosts South Africa, will be taking part in the tournament for the first time.
The Confederations Cup is contested by the host country, the World Cup winners and the winners of each of the six FIFA confederation championships (CAF, CONMEBOL, UEFA, AFC, OFC, CONCACAF).
Spain has been placed in Group A alongside Iraq, New Zealand and South Africa. Group B consists of Brazil placed alongside Italy, Egypt and USA. (I’m looking forward to the clash of Brazil vs. Italy! Personally, I’m routing for Brazil!
)
Hopefully the Spanish giants can taste national victory once more and be declared the winners of the Confederations Cup tournament at the end of this month. Don’t forget to tune in and support El Niño, Fernando Torres! VIVA ESPAÑA!
