Liverpool Humbled By Fiorentina

Making only one change from the team that managed to thrash Hull City 6-1, Rafael Benitez brought in Fabio Aurelio, who came in for Riera on the left-side of midfield.
Everything seemed to be gelling perfectly fine and Liverpool were clearly the favorites going into this Champions League match.
Unfortunately not everything can fall into place, as Liverpool tasted defeat after a string of victories in the past couple of weeks.
Fiorentina managed to bring down to Earth and humble the Anfield Reds, giving them their first Champions League defeat thanks to Jovetic at the 28th and 37th minute of the game.
The match started out slow enough, as neither keeper was tested much in the first opening exchanges. Signs of a potential goal from Liverpool came when Torres linked up well with Kuyt on the edge of the Italian box, but the Dutchman failed to beat the advancing Frey to the ball and evidential goal. Darn.
Fiorentina finally gained an advantage which led to their first goal of the game on the 28th minute when Jovetic played pass Reina and gave the hosts a surprise lead.
Nine minutes later the Merseysiders were then 2 goals behind as again Fiorentina hero of the night, Jovetic scored another goal on the 37th minute of the game.
The second half of the game didn’t do much for the Reds, as from the start of second period, Fiorentina almost scored a 3rd goal. To save you from disappointment and time, I’ll skip right on ahead towards the end – were yeah, you guessed it, Liverpool ended the night 0-2.
Elsewhere Olympique Lyon romped to a 4-0 win over Debrecen, which place them in the lead of Group E. Fiorentina moves to second place, leaving Liverpool in third place and very sad Debrecen dead last with zero points to their name.
