Liverpool Wins 6-1 Against Hull City
3 views 27 September 2009
Not only did Liverpool beat the Hull City Tigers, but they completely and utterly smashed the lowly team as Liverpool wins six consecutive victories. Adding the Tigers to Liverpool’s wall of shame, beating them with six goals to the spread sheet.
Not only was Pool on fire, but the main contributor to the Reds outstanding winning number came from our favorite boy – the man that makes women swoon and guys jealous of his athletic skill, our very own Fernando Torres, who scored three goals of the end total six.
The road to glory and countless goals first began with Torres, who sleekly took in a pass from Riera and turned it into good fortunate for him and Liverpool, marking the first goal of the game.
Unfortunately the Reds couldn’t hold onto the early lead, when in minutes Hull City player Geovanni took his chance to equalize and equalize he did, taking his shot and making the game tied 1-1.
Not going down without a fight, Torres and the rest of the team searched persistently for their second goal. Breaking the tie breaker, Yossi Benayoun found the Spanish striker at the edge of the six-yard box, were Torres made his way past two defenders and keyed in his 7th goal of the season.
Three minutes after break Torres snatched up his third goal of the game with a hat trick provided again by the fabulous Yossi Benayoun. The number ‘9′ came within inches of scoring yet again and adding a fourth goal to his game, but it was instead Steven Gerrard who made the game 4-1 at the sixty-one minute.
A goal that Rafael Benitez nicely refereed to as a fluke;
“You have to ask him (Gerrard) because it was a great goal but I am not sure that he was trying to score.â€
Fluke or not, one thing is for sure, Torres played one heck of a game and was given a much needed break, introducing Babel with 22 more minutes on the playing clock. Afterwords Gerrard and Benayoun soon followed, letting Babel enter the mix.
On an interview with Sky Sports Benitez was asked about his players performance, which he had this to say about Torres:
“The team was doing well and Fernando was a key player in the first part; the team was following him,†he told Sky Sports. “I think it was a great performance,†he added.
“I think he (Torres) has shown in the last two games that he is improving, he is working harder, he has more chances,†added Benitez. “You could see today again when he is working on running the defenders, he can beat anyone.â€
