Fernando Torres’ superb strike against Blackburn Rovers was voted Liverpool’s best goal for the month of April by fans in a poll on the club’s official website.

With just five minutes gone on the clock, a long ball into the box by Jamie Carragher was brilliantly chested down by Fernando Torres. The striker didn’t think twice, as he turned on a six-pence before cracking an unstoppable volley over Robinson and into the far corner.

Torres’ goal put his side on their way to a 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Anfield. The forward went onto grab a second in the Red’s emotive win as the striker dedicated both of his goals to the memory of victims of the Hillsborough tragedy.

The forward’s opener versus Blackburn Rovers is the second Fernando Torres strike to grab Liverpool’s ‘Goal of the Month’ award. The Spaniard collected February’s award with an excellent glancing header in the 2-0 Premier League victory at home Chelsea.

April’s ‘Goal of the Month’ will no doubt be one of the candidates for Liverpool’s ‘Goal of the Season’. Should the forward walk-off with the 2008/2009 award, it will be his second in two seasons, after winning last year’s prize with a great solo effort away to Olympique Marseille in the Champions League.
