Selected to PFA Team of the Year!

A great honour for most footballers, the Professional Footballers Association named Liverpool’s number ‘9′, Fernando Torres for their Premier League team of the 2008/09 season.

Although Fernando’s injuries kept him from only participating in 21 games, the Spaniard still earned enough votes from his peers to make the prestigious team of the year. Torres made the two make strike for along side Chelsea’s forward Nicolas Anelka.

El Niño wasn’t the only Red to grace the starting eleven line up, fellow Merseyside-based player Steven Gerrard also was voted onto the coveted list. I want to congratulate Fernando for being a great player that any team would be lucky and fortunate enough to have, cheers Fer!

Goalkeeper: Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United)

Defenders: Glen Johnson (Portsmouth), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United), Patrice Evra (Manchester United).

Midfielders: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United), Ashley Young (Aston Villa).

Strikers: Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea), Fernando Torres (Liverpool).
