Torres not enough against the Blues
150 views 9 April 2009
After a fantastic goal from Fernando Torres in the first fives minutes of the game, thanks to Kuyt who found his Spanish teammate with a low, pin-point cross. It seemed like that goal was the only thing destiny would allow them for the night.
Torres scouted for another shot as he caught Lampard in possession deep in his own-half, before surging towards the Chelsea box and curling a shot just over the bar.
After struggling against the home team, it seemed Chelsea had finally found their feet towards the end of the first half. After weathering the storm Liverpool had put on them earlier, the Blue’s Branislav Ivanovic equaled the score with a shot of his own with just over five minutes remaining on the clock.
Hoping to catch up in the second half, the Liverpool Red’s marched on playing whole heatedly. Fernando was a threat to be reckoned with as he came dangerously close to making other shots and bringing Liverpool back in the game. Unfortunately for the Merseysiders, even with Torres they couldn’t stop a determined Ivanovic who added a second goal to his repertoire.
Not letting the second shot put them down, Liverpool pushed on for an equalizer shot. Chelsea had other plans for the Red’s though, as Drogba added Chelsae’s third goal of the night against Anfeild’s Liverpool.
Chelsea’s third goal left the Red’s stunned, try as they might luck wasn’t on their side. At the final whistle the score was 1-3 in Chelsea’s favor. With a lose at Anfeild can the Red’s recover and have a strong win at Stamford Bridge to continue on the Champion’s League?
